My main theme of this paper are diffrent strategies we can use to promote reading to children who doesn´t read as good as they should. The reasons I have chosen to go in this direction have much too do with my little experience of how the teaching is done for pupils with Norwegian as a second language and scholars with reading and writing difficulties. In addition to the use of reading strategies in teaching, I also based my thesis on a qualitative survey I sent out to all parents and guardians in my practice class. The survey was anonymous so that parents could answer what they wanted and felt about all the topics in the study. I used the open response categories on the form so that parents or respondent as it is also known could write the answer themselves and this gives the task a more qualitative character. Action research is an important part of my thesis because I chose to concentrate on the past and current reading strategies used in schools and how they work for the children who really need them to work.no_NO
